Leslie Manfredo appointed to Illinois State faculty

After teaching choral and general music in the public schools of Tennessee and Illinois for 23 years at every grade level from kindergarten through high school and serving as a Diocesan music minister in Indiana for seven years, Leslie (Cengel) Manfredo, BME’81, has recently been hired as assistant director of choral activites at Illinois State University (ISU) in Normal, Ill.

Manfredo will direct the ISU Women’s Glee Club and Belle Voix ensembles and will teach choral conducting and choral methods classes to undergraduate music majors. After completing a BME at IU, Manfredo went on to complete a Master in Music Education at the University of Illinois and a Master of Education from the U of I. She holds National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Young Adult with a Vocal Music Concentration and a Type 75 Principal License in the State of Illinois.

She is married to Joseph Manfredo, who is the undergraduate coordinator of music education at ISU. They have two adult children who work and reside in the Chicago area.
