DiOrio’s Choral Music Performed in China / Hong Kong

diOrio_composer-220Choral conducting faculty member Dominick DiOrio recently had his original choral work “Ode to Purcell” performed by the Yale Glee Club in China and Hong Kong.

Performance venues included Zhejiang University in Hangzhou on May 25th, the magnificent Shanghai Oriental Art Center on May 26th, the Beijing Tianjin Grand Theater Concert Hall June 1st, and St. John’s Cathedral in Hong Kong on June 3rd.

“Ode to Purcell” was the winner of the Yale Glee Club 2012 Emerging Composer’s Competition, and in addition to the performances abroad, was featured in performances at Yale and Harvard in November 2012.

Directed by Jeffrey Douma, The Yale Glee Club is Yale’s principal undergraduate mixed choir and its oldest musical organization. Now in its 152nd season, the YGC is one of the most traveled choruses in the world, having appeared on six continents and in every major city in the United States.
