Mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton recently appeared in the role of Adalgisa in Bellini’s “Norma” at the Metropolitan Opera. Singing her first major role at the Met, her performance received a rave review from The New York Times, which proclaimed her a “revelation.”
BBC Cardiff Singer of the World winner, Barton earned her masters in vocal performance from the Jacobs School of Music in 2007, where she studied with Mary Ann Hart and Brian Horne. During her time at Indiana University, she graced the IU Opera Theatre stage as Tisbe in La Cenerentola, the Witch in Hänsel und Gretel, Buttercup in HMS Pinafore, and Mrs. Soames in the 2006 world premiere of Ned Rorem’s Our Town.
