Alumna Annie Gill wins Art Song Festival of Toledo

Soprano Annie Gill, BM’04, won first place in the 2012 Art Song Festival of Toledo, Ohio, Singer Recital Competition. She performed her winning program of art songs as the first recital of the festival on June 25. As a finalist in the 2012 Orpheus Vocal Competition, Gill won the prestigious Puccini Award. As a district winner in the 2012 NATS Competition (MD/DC), she competed in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Finals and won third place in her category. Gill was also a finalist in the 2012 Chicago Opera Award Competition (the American Prize) and the 2012 MetroWest Opera Competition. Recent engagements include performances as soprano soloist for the Washington Savoyards 40th Anniversary Gala and a cover performance of Nedda in the Repertory Opera Theater of Washington’s production of Pagliacci. In July 2012, Gill will perform the lead role of Jezebel in the world premiere of the opera The Name on the Door as part of the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C. Other upcoming engagements include performances as soprano soloist in the Brahms Requiem with the City Choir of Washington, D.C., and as soprano soloist in a concert of opera arias and duets with the FMMC Chorale and Orchestra in D.C. Gill currently studies with soprano Elizabeth Daniels and frequently collaborates with Washington National Opera coach Joy Schreier.
