Alumnus Randal Turner makes his Chinese debut

Alumus baritone Randal Turner will make his Chinese operatic debut at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, singing the title role in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Lorin Maazel – a role he first performed as a student at the IU Opera Theater. Turner recently released his first recital CD Living American Composers containing songs by Ricky Ian Gordon, Glen Roven, Julia Schwartz, Jake Heggie and Clint Borzoni – several of which were composed especially for him. The CD is available through Amazon and CDBaby.

Turner was born and raised on a farm near Crawfordsville, Indiana, and currently lives in Zurich, Switzerland. At IU he studied voice with Dale Moore and Margaret Harshaw.
