The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is embarking on its first tour of Asia with a chamber orchestra of 36 students, under the leadership of string faculty Jorja Fleezanis and Stephen Wyrczynski. The ensemble will play four performances of music by Rossini, Copland and Mozart in Seoul, South Korea, March 16-21, 2015. In addition to concerts at Sookmyung Women’s University and Seoul National University, the ensemble will perform for American troops stationed at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan and culminate with a concert at the Seoul Arts Center.
The opportunity to travel and perform abroad serves as an immersive experience for students to gain international and intercultural learning. Additionally, these students will serve as ambassadors of Indiana University, showcasing the exceptional talent within the Jacobs School of Music to Korean audiences, including IU alumni.
