IU Jacobs School of Music Student to Perform with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra

Pianist Garrett Myers, student of Edward Auer, will be performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major K. 467 with the Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, October 20th, at 7:30pm. The concert will take place at Columbus North High School’s Erne Auditorium.

Garrett attended Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, interestingly, studying with David Bowden’s former piano teacher and renowned Chicago-based pianist, William Phemister. He graduated in the spring of 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Degree.

In the summer of 2009, Garrett studied at the Aspen Music Festival and School receiving instruction from Gabriel Chodos and Claude Frank. He has participated in masterclasses with several other prominent pianists such as Alan Chow, Heidi Williams, and Svetlana Belsky and chamber music coaching with several prominent musicians including Matthias Tacke of the Vermeer Quartet and Sharon Polifrone of the Audubon String Quartet. Recent performances include a performance at the Steinway of the Americas Convention at the personal request of the Steinway of the Americas president, Ron Losby.

Garrett currently studies with pianist Edward Auer in the Jacobs School of Music and is pursuing his Masters of Music in Piano Performance.
