August 2016 Newsletter

Greetings!

2016 has been an extremely eventful year for the IU Jazz Studies Department. This newsletter and the next will highlight newsworthy events from Spring 2016. The passing of David Baker in March was a major milestone in the life of IU Jazz. We plan to celebrate David’s life and music at the Musical Arts Center on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Please watch for more information about this event coming soon.

In this issue, we highlight the two online sites for Remembering David Baker, we hear from jazz trombonist, composer/arranger, bandleader John Fedchock who did some sabbatical replacement teaching for us in the spring, and we share news about the newly formed Plummer Jazz Sextet and their trip to Graz, Austria this past March.

We hope you enjoy these updates about IU Jazz!
