NEWS: CURRENT STUDENTS

Chappell Kingsland presented his choral work Unfurl my heart at the University of Notre Dame on September 14. The conference, entitled James MacMillan and the Musical Modes of Mary and the Cross, brought together choral directors, composers, and vocalists to share perspectives from different traditions of Sacred Music.
Eric Lindsay’s sextet, Town’s Gonna Talk, has been selected for performance at the 16th Biennial Festival of New Music at Florida State University, January 31st through February 2nd, 2013.

Jess Turner

Jess Turner has recently been commissioned by the University of Georgia Wind Ensemble to compose a new work for performance at the ACDA convention in March. Also, Heavy Weather a concerto for tuba and wind ensemble is to be premiered in December by the Hartt School wind ensemble. Heavy Weather was commissioned by a consortium of tubists and ensembles headed up by Glen Adsit of the Hartt School. Also, Concertino Cabolco for flute and wind ensemble is to be premiered in November by the Bob Jones University Wind Ensemble. Concertino Cabolco was commissioned by a consortium of flutists and wind ensembles. The International Trumpet Guild has commissioned him to write a piece for wind ensemble and two trumpets for the May, 2014 ITG conference in Philadelphia.


NEWS: ALUMNI

Kang-Gyu Lee (DM 2009) was recently appointed as an assistant professor in Composition at the Sang Myeong University in Seoul.
