Last weekend, four Jacobs composers left the frozen north to attend the Sixteenth Biennial Festival of New Music at Florida State University in Tallahassee. Read more…

CVE performs new works by Vini Frizzo and Prof. Don Freund

Associate Conductor and Doctoral student Vini Frizzo, winner of the Indiana University Contemporary Vocal Ensemble Choral Composition Competition presented the premier of his work Nightscape with the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble on February 26th. Prof. Don Freund’s God’s Grandeur, an ultimately joyous work, was also presented. Both works can be viewed on youtube, via the title links. Read a review from the Herald Times here…

Francisco Cortes-Alvarez has new orchestral work programed in the XXXV Foro de Musica Nueva Manuel Enriquez

Francisco Cortes-Alvarez’s Masters Thesis (Partículas en movimiento) for Orchestra and solo Flute has been programed in the XXXV Foro de Musica Nueva Manuel Enriquez to be premiered next May in Mexico City. Read more…

ISO to perform works of alumnus, Son Lux (Ryan Lott)

The ISO And NewAm Present: Son Lux And Shara Worden Edwin Outwater, Conductor Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), Vocalist Son Lux, Composer-performer NewAm composer and Indiana University alumnus Son Lux will join the ISO on stage and perform various pieces from his recent and critically-acclaimed albums and other new works, arranged specially for the ISO by NewAm artists William Brittelle, Caroline Shaw, and Daniel Wohl.
